I’ve started painting again! (Sort of…)

It’s been years since I painted anything, really… I guess I got side tracked painting and making furniture and completely ignored this little hobby of mine… but the winter here in Sweden is really bringing me down. I miss my garage… it’s cold in there now… and dark… and I feel no desire to build anything… as if you haven’t noticed the lack of posts… lack of posts means lack of furniture building going on…

So whenever you are in the business of getting started with something again it’s a good idea to start slow and small right? I think so… So what I did was finish a painting I started years ago… actually there’s more of a story to it than that… would you like to hear it? Yeah? Well gather round then! Um yeah… ehem… anyway…

Basically my wife used to be one of the leaders of the young women of the church we belong to, meaning that she was one of the ones who ruled the roost… or not… but anyway, they came up with this idea of making some sort of poster with the values that they lived by. I honestly can’t remember the details of the idea but they thought it was brilliant and asked me to make a backdrop for whatever lanterns were going to be floating into the sky or whatnot.

So I painted this painting and it hung in there and it was happily used for not sure how long… until one day someone came to gently and carefully inform me that the devil had been at large! That a tiny miscreant (you can tell I love children ;)) had desecrated my masterpiece using a permanent marker as a weapon! Oh the horror! Oh the grief!

Eventually when it was no longer needed it was returned to me and each time I looked at it I wept inside… or not… but I did put it in my closet for a couple of years so I wouldn’t have to look at it… well yesterday I took it out and looked at it… oh and fixed it too!! I turned those permanent markered wounds into little bobbing boats! Clever eh? I thought so…

So here it is for your viewing pleasure! I’m pretty pleased with it actually… a friend of my wife has bought it too which is awesome! So no you can’t have it! Unless you want a reprint of course… in which case contact me¬†and we will sort it out!
